Inside the makeup kit - Brushes

I have totally neglected my blog, so I thought the best way of getting back to it would be to continue posting about whats in my kit. It still is the number one question that I am asked.
My very first job in makeup was as a makeup artist for stila cosmetics and the trainer told me that Michelangelo wouldn´t have been able to paint sistine chapel without brushes. His statement made such an impact on me that ever since I have never let go of the belief that brushes are the key to a good makeup application.
I am a big brush lover and own a lot of brushes (and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT). It is impossible to show you all of my brushes, so I will show my favorite ones.

Shu Uemura 18 foundation brush

This goat hair brush is small but very precise. I used to use a MAC 187 or my fingers to apply foundation but those days are far gone ever since I discoverd this beauty. This foundation brush is the best foundation brush ever created, in my humble opinion.

Chanel concealer brush

I use this concealer brush for applying concealer over larger areas or to spot apply an extra layer of foundation. Synthetic brushes are better for use with any type of cream or liquid products.

Stila 9 Brush

This blending brush has been with me for a very long time. It was my first brush and has stayed with me ever since. That goes to show that if you take good care of your brushes they last you a lifetime. Technically a blending brush I prefer to use it for applying and blending undereye concealer.

Nars 6 brush

This blusher brush is my favorite to apply powder with. It is a little more firm than an average powder brush but that´s why I like it so much. Also it´s small size let´s me get into all the areas of the face without any problem. I also use it for applying blush to the face.

Stila 20 brush

This double sided brush doubles up to apply eyeshadow and the other side can be used to apply eyeliner.

MAC 217

I have several 217 brushes in my kit and always seem to use it. I apply and blend eyeshadow with it.

Shu Uemura 7H brush

My lip brush. I usually don´t tend to use lipliner and prefer to apply lipstick with my brush as if where a lipliner. I know it sounds a little abstract but I would recommend to take a look at Jane Bradley her dvd ¨Lips to Lashes¨, where she shows you exactly how it is done.
